When I gift a quilt I like to wash it first. Here are my tips. I’m sure everyone has their own personal preference but this is how I like to do it. Put your washing machine on a bedding setting but if your machine doesn’t have that option, just use a gentle cycle. Use a cooler temperature, 30 degrees centigrade is the lowest my machine goes. Pop in a couple of colour catchers especially on the first wash and even sometimes on a second. They are the best! Use Soak, it’s designed for quilts and co

“It’s a beautiful day to save quilts” A quick bit of quilt surgery was required on my Mixed Lollies quilt. I had pieced the top together with one of the half square triangles in the wrong position. It didn’t take long at all and to be honest I probably spent more time making the reel! All I did was unpick the long seams an inch or two past the joins, then I unpicked the other two short seams.
